ITV2 comedy to return in the spring

Filming has begun on the fourth series of ITV2 comedy Plebs.

As Chortle reported in May, eight new episodes have been commissioned for broadcast next spring.

ITV has released this image of Ryan Sampson as Grumio from the first day on set. He co-stars with Tom Rosenthal and Joel Fry as Marcus and Stylax and Grumio.

The comedy, which is shot in Bulgaria, also began repeats on the main ITV channel in 2015.

The last series typically attracted 600,000 viewers on overnight ratings for the first outing of each episode on ITV2, making it the highest rated British scripted comedy on  a digital channel.

Sam Leifer, who co-wrote the series with Tom Basden, is again directing.

Casting and storylines will be confirmed nearer transmission.
