Eddie Izzard to run for Jo Cox

Comic boosts memorial events

Eddie Izzard is to take part in a memorial event in memory of murdered MP Jo Cox.

The comic – and marathon runner – is taking part in a 6.5km run at Oakwell Hall near Batley, West Yorkshire, which the Labour politician represented.

He made a video with Jo's sister Kim Leadbeater to promote the event, which takes place on June 25, close to Jo's birthday.

The event will be raising money for the More In Common campaign set up in honour of Cox after she was killed outside a constituency surgery on June 16 by extreme nationalist Thomas Mair, who is now serving a life sentence.

Jo's widower Brendan is also expected to attend the family fun day surrounding the run – as well as more than 1,000 runners.

Izzard also made this video promoting The Great Get Together, also inspired by Jo's words that 'we are far more united and have far more in common than that which divides us'.
