Entries open for Amused Moose comedy award

For 'almost TV ready' acts

Entries have opened for this year’s Amused Moose comedy award.

The accolade is aimed at acts who are ‘almost DVD/television ready’ – as opposed to the new comic award Amused Moose also runs – and was last year won by Scottish comic Larry Dean.

Other previous winners include Tony Law, Marcel Lucont, Celia Pacquola and Richard Gadd.

The award is open to comics with shows that will be performed at least 18 times at the Edinburgh Fringe, but unlike most awards is judged on a video of a performance, usually submitted before the festival begins.

There is no cash prize, but organiser Hils Jago stresses the ‘large number of comedy industry people’ who view entires and attend the final, which takes place in Edinburgh on August 20.

‘Whether you win, or make it into the final or not, you can be certain that your show will be watched by far more people who could make things happen for you, than would otherwise be even remotely possible,’ she tells entrants.

She encouraged acts to enter and upload a video of the full show ‘ideally by mid-July’, although entries officially close on Sunday  August 6 at 11.59pm.

The entry form with full details is here.
