Maisie Adam and Suzi Ruffell win 'best sports podcast' award
Maisie Adam and Suzi Ruffell’s Big Kick Energy has been named the UK’s best sports podcast.
The comedians’ football show won the accolade at the Broadcast Sports Awards last night over fellow nominees including the official England Rugby podcast and Sky Sports’ Three Players and a Podcast.
Adam said: ‘Who knew a couple of idiots titting about and laughing at football counts as "broadcasting". Next year we’ll enter the Sports Management Awads, I reckon that’ll be a doddle and all.'
Ruffell added: We have loved creating Big Kick Energy and celebrating all parts of women’s football from grassroots to the WSL [Women's Super League] to internationals.
‘I’m over the moon to have won a Broadcast Sport Award, especially given I am such a new fan to the beautiful game.’
The show is recorded in Brighton, the comics’ hometown, by Vibrant Television, the production company set up earlier this year by Mobashir Dar, former head of BBC new comedy and Ish Kalia, formerly an editor on A League Of Their Own.
In a statement, the producers said: ‘We have enjoyed every minute of working with Maisie and Suzy. They have poured so much hard work into every show and fully deserve this Broadcast Sport Award. We’re incredibly excited to continue this journey of elevating and celebrating women’s football with these two hugely talented comedians.’
Adam and Ruffell have previously appeared together on The World's Most Dangerous Roads, pictured above and available on demand via UKTV Play.
