World’s Most Dangerous Roads to return

Revealed: Which comedians are taking part in the trecherous drives

More comedians are to get behind the wheel for a second run of the revived World's Most Dangerous Roads series.

Dave has ordered eight more hour-long episodes of the show, having brought it back earlier this year, a decade after its BBC Two run,

Tackling the treacherous roads this time around are:

  • Jamali Maddix and Larry Dean, who head to the dramatic landscapes of Bhutan
  • Rhod Gilbert and Angela Barnes, who take on the Italian Alps
  • Olga Koch and Thanyia Moore,  who venture into the diverse terrain of Bulgaria.
  • Desiree Burch and Jessica Fostekew who travel on Colorado’s notoriously dangerous ground
  • Seann Walsh and Joe Swash, who explore Guatemala’s not so safe turf.
  • Sports reporters Jeff Stelling and Chris Kamar, who  set out on a thrillingly scenic journey to Sri Lanka
  • Actors David Harewood and Fraser James tackle the dangerous roads of Slovenia.

The new episodes will air later this year.

Hilary Rosen, director of commissioning for Dave’s parent company UKTV, said: ‘I’m delighted to be working with Ricochet to bring World’s Most Dangerous Roads back for a second time.

‘This series will continue to deliver heartstopping moments, set against spectacular landscapes as our often terrified celebrities battle some of the world’s toughest roads. It also provides revealing insights into their real-world friendships while they undertake the adventure of a lifetime.’

Dave channel director Cherie Hall added: ‘World’s Most Dangerous Roads thrilling format proved a hit with Dave viewers. It perfectly combines elements of travel, comedy and adventure and I can’t wait for more.’

Series one, which is available via catch up on UKTV Play, followed Lou Sanders, Ed Gamble, Phil Wang, Stephen Mangan, Lara Ricote, Keith Lemon, Darren Harriott and more as they drove along the most challenging routes in countries such as Albania, Iceland and Australia.

The first series reached an average audience of 654,000 per episode, peaking with 848,000 or Joe Wilkinson and Zoe Lyons’s off-road adventure in Turkey.

Across all outings on Dave to date, World’s Most Dangerous Roads series one has reached more than 4.1million viewers.

Executive producer Natalie Wilkinson said: ‘We are thrilled to be returning to Dave for a second series of World’s Most Dangerous Roads, finding new locations, sourcing more extraordinary routes and taking the audience on nail-biting rides with some of UKTVs most loved, and new, comedy talent.’
