Rosie Jones to tell kids how to beat the bullies

...in her first non-fiction book, as the Edie Eckhart series also expands

Rosie Jones is to write a book advising children how to beat the  bullies.

Moving On Up, which is aimed at nine- to 11-year-olds, is the comedian’s first non-fiction book and is described as a school survival guide.

It follows the success of her Edie Eckhart fiction series, based around a schoolgirl with cerebral palsy, the same condition Jones has. A new instalment will be published this August – the third book in as many years – with another commissioned for 2024.

The synopsis for Moving On Up  reads: ‘With funny stories, top tips and witty illustration, it will entertain and reassure readers preparing to move schools. No one knows quite as much about friendship fails, facing bullies and being totally embarrassed than comedian Rosie Jones. Rosie knows exactly how you can care less about the things that get you down, and more about the things you care about.’

Emily Lunn a senior commissioning editor at publishers Hachette told trade website The Bookseller: ‘We love Rosie and her infectious energy, humour, and dedication to her publishing – we’re so proud to be publishing her first children’s non-fiction book.’

Jones – who is currently on the road with her Triple Threat stand-up tour – said she was ‘excited’ to be moving into non-fiction.

Earlier this month, she spoke about the vile abuse she received from social media trolls, which peaked when she appeared on BBC One’s Question Time.
