2023 tour goes ahead, as she says it may be her last

Janey Godley has revealed that her cancer has returned.

The comic said that more treatment was ‘on the cards’ – five months after being given the all-clear for ovarian cancer.

The 61-year-old said she would undergo chemotherapy after new evidence of the disease was found in her abdomen – but still aimed to fulfil her 27-date Not Dead Yet tour in February and March. But she said she expected it to be her last.

Writing on social media, she said: ‘Just to keep everyone updated, my latest blood tests and CT scan has revealed that my cancer marker has gone up and there is more evidence of the disease in my abdomen, which means I will be undergoing further treatments and chemotherapy.

‘I have always made it clear in past updates that my type of ovarian cancer is incurable but treatable. The Beatson cancer clinic and my cancer specialist are going to support me in my aim to go ahead with the comedy tour in February, I am determined to keep working for as long and for as best can. It's fair to say it will be my last comedy tour.

‘My family, management team and close friends are supporting me throughout this time and I want to thank everyone online and in real life who has been holding me up throughout this whole journey. I really hope to see you all out there in the audience next February/March.

‘I can't wait to get back onstage. Have a lovely Christmas and hold your loved ones close.’

In a further video, she added: ‘I have always been a kind of Die On Your Feet no your knees type of person, you know me, so I'm looking forward to the tour.

‘I think it is going to be fair and honest to say it might be the last time you'll see me live on stage. I am hoping it's no but I think it's a fair estimation that that will be what we are looking at.’

‘I don't want to fade away. I want to go out with a bang. Are you ready to see me go out with a bang? I am not going sing My Way. It's no gonna be that kind of tour. There's going to be a lot of fun.’
