Ricky Gervais’s wealth grows by £10m

According to new accounts from his companies

Ricky Gervais’s fortune has swelled by  £10million in a year

The assets of his company Red Lion 100 Ltd rose £5.5million with Derek Productions, of which he is also sole director, rising a further £4million.

His wealth has been boosted by royalties from the UK and US versions of The Office, the sale of the rights to his children’s book Flanimals – with an animated movie due out in 2024 – and his Netflix deal.

The streaming giant released the second series of his show After Life earlier this year, while his stand-up special SuperNature landed in May. He is currently working on his next show, Armageddon, and has this week announced shows for the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles and Radio City Music Hall in New York.

The accounts newly filed at Companies House cover the year to November 2021 for Derek Productions and March 2022 for Red Lion 100.

They also reveal he’s paid £1.7million corporation tax bill on profits across both firms in the periods covered. He has previously commented about his wealth: 'I know it sounds a lot, but remember, I donate a lot of this to good causes (the Inland Revenue mainly).'

Gervais, 61, also has a US company, Ricky Gervais Ink.
