Peter Kay sitting on a £35million fortune

...and that's even before taking into account the impending mega-tour

Peter Kay is about to swell his coffers with a massive arena tour stretching into 2025 – but he certainly doesn’t need the money.

New accounts show his two companies are sitting on a total of almost £36million in assets, despite the comedian having barely set foot on stage in 12 years.

One firm, Goodnight Vienna Productions, has £25.1million in assets, including £12.3million in cash

Another, Hussain Traders Ltd, has £10.6million in assets including just under £1million in cash according to documents just filed at Companies House.

Both sets of accounts are for the year up to March 2022.

Kay is the sole director of Hussain Traders, which is an investment company, while he and wife Susan are the directors of Goodnight Vienna, through which he does his TV and performing work.

Until he announced his new tour – which kicks off in Manchester next Friday and includes a monthly residency at The O2 in London – Kay had barely been seen in public since abruptly cancelling his tour in 2017 citing 'unforeseen family circumstances’.

His appearances over the past few years had been limited to only a few charity events, including a return to DJing his Dance For Life events earlier this year.

Demand for the new tour crashed servers dealing with advance sales, and when box offices opened to the general public fans found themselves in virtual waiting rooms behind up to 400,000 other people.

Gigs were added throughout the day of the ticket release – and there are now still tickets available for the later dates from official sources, not just resale sites.
