Romesh Ranganathan pilots new entertainment show

With his mum Shanthi

Romesh Ranganathan is piloting another new entertainment show – again featuring his mother Shanthi.

Details of the new project are scant but it promises ‘a star-studded line-up of celebrity guests, hilarious games and amazing music performances’.

Simply called The Romesh Ranganathan Show, the trial episode is being recorded in London next month, with producers saying: ‘Also accompanying Romesh is his straight talking mum Shanthi to keep him in check.’

Shanthi has just finished recording the fifth series of BBC Two’s The Ranganation with her son, having previously appeared on his BBC travelogue Asian Provocateur.

Last week it was announced that Ranganathan’s first Netflix special, The Cynic, will land on the platform on November 29. He has also filmed a ‘making of…’ comedy documentary to go with the release.

Meanwhile, a special episode of Rob and Romesh Vs airs on Sky Max tomorrow with Ranganathan and Rob Beckett meeting some of the England squad ahead of the Fifa World Cup, which kicks off in Qatar on Sunday.

Free audience tickets to the Romesh Ranganathan Show pilot at The Tabernacle in Notting Hill on December 6 are available from Standing Room Only.
