'It's the Fyre Festival of comedy specials'

Romesh Ranganathan films a 'making of...' Netflix show

Romesh Ranganathan has filmed a comedy documentary about the making of his first Netflix special.

The stand-up show The Cynic – recorded at the Hawth Theatre in his Crawley hometown – lands on the streaming platform on November 29, it has been announced today.

And the special will be followed by a half-hour, semi-scripted comedy documentary charting the comedian’s desire to create ‘the ultimate Netflix finale’ to his tour –  and how it never quite happened.

Producers say it will be ‘the Fyre Festival of comedy finales, as his ambitions far outweigh what he is able to achieve’.

The special was filmed over three nights this summer to conclude his The Cynic's Mixtape tour and features him talking about his veganism, his kids and racism in football.

Both the special and the documentary are made by Ranga Bee Productions, the company the comedian set up with executive producer and director Benjamin Green.
