Based on the memoirs of the woman who brought him down

ITV has bought the rights to air a new documentary about Bill Cosby’s crimes for  its new streaming service ITVX.

The Case Against Cosby is based on Andrea Constand’s memoir The Moment: Standing Up to Cosby, Speaking Up for Women

Constand is the only woman whose case against the comedian could be tried in a court of criminal law, as other allegations against him were outside the time frame allowed by the US statute of limitations. Another 62 women made such claims.

In 2018, Cosby was found guilty of three counts of aggravated indecent assault against Constand and sentenced to three to ten years in state prison

The new documentary – originally made for Canada’s CBC broadcaster – also speaks to other women who have made  sexual assault accusations against the comedian.

‘The story of these incredible women must be told, and their voices must be heard,’ Marine Ksadzhikyan of distributors Rive Gauche told broadcasting trade website Television Business International.

Director Karen Wookey added: ‘Andrea Constand is a champion for sexual assault survivors everywhere Her 15-year legal odyssey, and her determination to find justice against Cosby, has inspired a generation of survivors.’

ITVX is expected to launch within the next couple of months.
