Outstanding Achievement Award for Diane Morgan

Comic hailed by Edinburgh TV festival for her 20-year career

Diane Morgan is to receive a major accolade at this year's Edinburgh TV Festival.

The star of Motherland, Philomena Cunk, After Life and her own comedy, Mandy, is to receive the Outstanding Achievement Award handed out by showbiz bible Variety.

The festival says it comes ‘in recognition of her incredible body of work which spans more than 20 years’, while Morgan said: ‘What a lovely surprise! This almost makes up for all those Edinburghs where no one turned up to my show.’

Previous recipients of the award include Jodie Comer, David Harewood and Hugh Laurie.

Morgan will also appear at the festival in an In Conversation session, to discuss her career,  covering its highlights and challenges.

The Edinburgh TV Festival Awards, hosted by Sophie Duker, take place on August 25, in the middle of the three-day festival.
