BBC orders more Weakest Links with Romesh Ranganathan
Romesh Ranganathan is to present another series of The Weakest Link, the BBC has confirmed.
Executives have ordered 12 more hour-long episodes with celebrity contestants, after the first proved successful in the ratings, hitting a peak of 5.3million viewers for the Strictly Come Dancing special.
Ranganathan said: ‘I’m delighted to be doing another series, partly because it’s a fun show and the response has been amazing, but mainly to avoid "Turns out Romesh was The Weakest Link" headlines.’
Pete Ogden, executive producer for BBC Studios added: ‘’It was wonderful to see the last series land so well with viewers and there’s nothing we love more than putting celebrities under pressure and making them vote each other off.
‘Romesh is a treat to work with and I can’t wait to unleash him on another batch of celebrities.’
The new series will again be filmed at the BBC’s Pacific Quay studios and air on BBC One and iPlayer later this year. The celebrity contestants are yet to be announced.
