This week's comedy on demand

In honour of the London Podcast Festival, which kicks off at Kings Place in Kings Cross on Friday, this week's comedy on-demand selection comprises only comedy shows which are recording episodes at the week-long event.

Rule Of Three

This celebratory, geeky podcast about the nuts and bolts of comedy is hosted by Jason Hazeley and Joel Morris, both pictured, who penned the Philomena Cunk TV show and the best-selling Ladybird Books for Grown-Ups series, among many others. Each week a comedy guest talks about something funny that they love, which is then up for dissection. Sue Perkins will be joining them at the festival, while the last episode to be released had Garth Marenghi star Matt Holness talking about Monty Python's Life Of Brian… on LP. Here is the archive.

Friends With Friends

Could this BE and more nerdy? This podcast picks apart every single episode of Friends, with superfans Pete Allison, Dave Cribb and a guest analysing the minutiae of each show. And with 236 episodes there's a lot of raw material to get through. They are 21 shows in so far… Listen here

And, as previously mentioned in this column, Monkey Tennis does the same with every episode of the Alan Partridge canon. Stephen Mangan will be the guest for the episode recorded at the podcast festival.

Then there's the Bond-themed SmershPod, with Al Murray guesting on the forthcoming live episode.

Victoriocity

Set in a fictional London of 1887, Victoriocity is a comedy whodunit in which Inspector Archibald Fleet (Tom Crowley) and journalist Clara Entwhistle (Layla Katib)investigate a murder, only to find themselves at the centre of a conspiracy of impossible proportions. The first season was released in November. While a Kickstarter to make a second series next year has exceeded its £5,000 target.

Do The Right Thing

We've mentioned this before; but then it is better than most the broadcast panel shows out there. It's created and hosted by Danielle Ward, who asks – in her distinctively convoluted manner – teams led by Margaret Cabourn-Smith and Michael Legge the correct (or funniest) way to react in certain situations. But there were only three episodes last year, and nothing since Christmas… so hoorah for the new one being taped at the festival. Listen to all the old episodes here.

Meanwhile, in Shmanners, husband and wife Travis and Teresa McElroy discuss matters of etiquette.

Comedians' Surgery

Stand-up and junior doctor Ed Patrick presents a chat show in which fellow comedians talk about their health. Previous 'patients' have included Joe Lycett, Andy Hamilton, Angela Barnes and James Acaster. Listen here.
