Vote in the 2018 Chortle awards

Nominees announced

Katherine Ryan, Richard Herring, Mae Martin, Kiri Pritchard-McLean, Joseph Morpurgo and Rob Kemp have all been nominated for two Chortle awards.

However no comedian dominates this year’s shortlists, which celebrate the best in live and broadcast comedy.

Ryan is up for best tour and best TV comedian, while Herring is up for the internet award for his Leicester Square Theatre Podcast and the book award for his Emergency Questions from that show.

Martin is the running for the radio show and breakthrough act; Pritchard-McLean is up for best compere and club comedian; Morpurgo is up for the character, sketch improv award and best show for Hammerhead; and Kemp is up for best newcomer and best musical and variety act for his Elvis Dead show.

Other nominees include Ricky Gervais, Greg Davies, Reeves & Mortimer, Joel Dommett, Romesh Ranganathan, Joe Lycett and Hannah Gadsby; while the TV category is between Inside No 9, Detectorists, GameFace and Motherland.

Shortlists are compiled by a panel of critics and bookers, with the final decision resting with Chortle readers. Details of the ceremony will be announced soon
