Maria Bamford's bonkers comedy series has returned to Netflix, with all eight episodes dropping last night.

This time there's a show within a show called Maria Bamford Is Nuts!, a typically silly nod to the mania and mental health issues the comedian tackles. This excuse for meta-jokes exists in a future timeline of a surreal comedy that plays fast and loose with any conventions of television.

In the second series she is living in a healthy relationship with boyfriend Scott (Ólafur Darri Ólafsson) – but that doesn't mean the bipolar Maria is entirely without issues…

Kurt Braunohler has also joined the cast as Maria's dad, Joel, replacing Ed Begley Jr.

Paul Mayhew-Archer, the writer behind BBC sitcom The Vicar of Dibley has made his stand-up debut at the age of 64 – after being diagnosed with Parkinson's disease.

He said he wanted to take to the stage before his condition deteriorated, and because new experiences are good exercise for the brain.,

He played London's Comedy Store last month and got some tips from other comics on the bill, including Tim Vine and Lucy Porter.

He made a film of his experiences for the BBC One regional magazine show which aired this week and is now available on iPlayer. His film starts 19mins 10sec into the programme.

The Blindboy Podcast

The plastic bag-clad hip-hopper Blindboy Boatclub, of the Rubberbandits, has launched a podcast, which immediately went to No.1 of the Irish comedy

The foul-mouthed broadcast is described as eclectic, as it mixes short fiction, interviews and comedy. In the latest episode, he discusses 'whether tiki cocktails are hyper-real simulacra and whether piss-soaked denim causes epilepsy' as well as reading some of his writing.
