O-T Fagbenle plays washed-up boy band star

Channel 4 has slipped out a new series of Comedy Blap shorts featuring The Handmaid's Tale star O-T Fagbenle.

The actor also wrote the three-part series, entitled Maxxx, about a fictional former boy band heart-throb, whose solo career crashed and burned.

After a drug scandal and being publicly dumped by his girlfriend, Rita Ora, Lion now finds himself pining for the life he once had. He heads to Tokyo to launch his new book but is mistaken for Craig David, knocks out a fan and has a breakdown on live TV.

Fagbenle – who plays Luke in The Handmaid's Tale – previously starred in the BBC Three sitcom Grownups, and ITV2's short-lived comedy FM.

His other credits include playing Other Dave in Dr Who, and roles in BBC One's Material Girl, Death in Paradise and The Interceptor.

Maxxx also feature street magician Dynamo, Helen Monks from Raised By Wolves and Upstart Crow and Michael Bertenshaw, Jo Martin and Hannah Arterto.

The series has been released today on All 4 and YouTube. Here is episode one:
