...in a new US comedy set in heaven

Daniel Radcliffe is to star as an angel in a new US comedy show set in heaven.

The former Harry Potter star will play Craig, responsible for handling prayers, in the series Miracle Workers.

And Owen Wilson also stars as God, who ‘has pretty much checked out to focus on his favourite hobbies’, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

An anthology of stories for the TBS network, Miracle Workers is based on Simon  Rich's book What in God's Name.

The show is executive produced by Saturday Night Live head honcho Lorne Michaels, as well a by Rich and its stars.

‘Having Daniel Radcliffe and Owen Wilson join the TBS family is proof of the continued evolution of this comedy brand as the home of the most creative minds in the business,’ said Brett Weitz, executive vice president of original programming for TBS.

‘Owen Wilson has long been a comic genius, and Daniel's performance in last year’s Swiss Army Man really proved that there’s a sophisticated comedian under the surface of those brilliant dramatic chops.

Radcliffe previously played a demon in the 2013 horror film Horns.

Miracle Workers is scheduled to premiere in 2018.

The network has also ordered 13 episodes of Close Enough, a new animated series about a family growing up without getting old; and sketch comedy series The Dress Up Game, following its success online.
