Peter Kay's Q&A for cancer sufferer

Another gig after previous efforts raised £150,000

Peter Kay is holding another Q&A session in aid of cancer sufferer Polly Haydock.

The Car Share star will be appearing at Blackpool Opera House next month to speak about his career in comedy and show exclusive clips and outtakes from his shows.

Proceeds from the £35-a-head session will go the appeal to fund the continuing cancer treatment for the 37-year-old mum of three from Westhoughton, Bolton.

Kay has already raised almost £150,000 towards her treatment with two earlier Q&A sessions in December.

Polly was diagnosed with stage 3 colorectal cancer in October 2015. She initially tried a diet of herbs and supplements as a possible cure, which appeared to keep her tumour stable. She then underwent radiotherapy, but afterwards, the cancer had spread to her lymph nodes, liver and lungs and was categorised as stage 4.

In July last year, her oncologist told her that she had six months left to live.

She and her family are now trying to raise more than £400,000 to receive expert treatment in Germany unavailable in the UK. They believe it will prolong her life and may even help cure the disease. A Go Fund Me campaign currently stands at more than £220,000.

At the time of last year’s Q&As, Polly’s husband Dan, 40, said a friend of the family contacted Peter, ‘to try and get him to come to a fundraising event at a local pub.

‘Peter rang her and said, "I have got a better idea, I’ll put these two nights on",’ Dan recalled.’ ‘It is outstanding. It is something you don’t expect. One month you are watching him on ‘Car Share’ and a couple of weeks later you are there with him.’

As well as Car Share, Kay’s new Q&A will cover Phoenix Nights, Max & Paddy’s Road To Nowhere, That Peter Kay Thing, Britain’s Got The Pop Factor and his stand-up tours. It takes place at the Blackpool Opera House on June 4.
