The undead take to Glasgow's streets

A zombie comedy-musical has begun filming in Glasgow.

Paul Kaye, the Game Of Thrones actor who began his TV career as Dennis Pennis, plays the antagonist Savage in Anna And The Apocalypse.

Young actress Ella Hunt, who played Ellie Marsden in Cold Feet, takes the title role as a girl who must fight – and sing – her way through a zombie invasion to reach the supposed safety of school.

Mark Benton plays her father. The star of new ITV drama The Halycon said earlier this month: 'Yes, I get to fight a few zombies. That's not a problem – after all, I've been to enough open auditions for jobs in the past, so it's a bit like being on familiar territory. After those, a few zombies will be easy.'

Anna And The Apocalypse is based on this short film, which director Ryan McHenry made in 2010. However he died of cancer in 2015 aged 27.

Now helming duties have been taken up John McPhail, the director of 2016 rom-com Where Do We Go From Here. And Alan MacDonald wrote the script McHenry, ScreenDaily reports.

Last week it was revealed that Kaye will be reading the words of Terry Pratchett in a new BBC documentary about the late comedy fantasy writer, based on his own account of his life.
