Burnistoun's back

BBC Scotland sketch series filming now

Burnistoun is to return to BBC Scotland.

The corporation revealed the news via a video posted on social media. It showed series regular Gerry McLaughin announcing a new show – only to be interrupted by creators Iain Connell and Robert Florence yelling one of the catchphrases: 'Up eh road!'

BBC Scotland have not responded to a request for comment on the number of episodes or when the show might be back on air.

But Florence confirmed the news by tweeting: 'It's true. Burnistoun is back. We are filming right now. Spread the word.'

And he also posted an image of a scene set in a nightclub:

Burnistoun originally ran in Scotland only for three series from 2010 to 2012, with a 30-minute one-off running nationwide in July 2015.

All three original series were made available on Netflix earlier this month too.
