David Suchet joins Peter Pan Goes Wrong

BBC Christmas one-off

David Suchet is to narrate the BBC Christmas comedy Peter Pan Goes Wrong, it has been announced.

The show – a spin-off from the West End hit – will be filmed in front of a live audience in Pinewood Studios tonight and tomorrow.

Suchet, who will also appear in Doctor Who in the new year, will be on screen as the narrator who finds himself caught up in the mayhem, the BBC said.

Comedy chief Shane Allen added: ‘This is a terrific endorsement for the show. David’s natural gravitas and sublime comic timing make him the perfect narrator to play off against the unfolding Shambles around him in this comedy tour de force.’

The slapstick one-off revolves around amateur dramatics group  Cornley Polytechnic Drama Society trying to recreate the J. M. Barrie classic for a TV spectacular, but battling a series of onstage catastrophes and backstage blunders.

Suchet said: ‘I am delighted to be part of this brilliantly funny television production for all the family to enjoy this Christmas time.’
