VOTING has opened for the third Comedians' Choice awards at the Edinburgh Fringe. Every performer at the festival has a free vote for best show, act or person, with polls closing on August 26. Organised by performers Barry Ferns and Gareth Morinan, there is no cash prize but the kudos of being recognised by fellow comedians. Vote here.

TRADE union Equity is to host a debate on the spread of comedy gigs which don't pay their acts. The free event is at Edinburgh's Festival Theatre on Nicolson Street from midday next Tuesday (23rd). Book by emailing workshop@equity.org.uk.

ARTHUR SMITH is hosting his traditional alternative tour of Edinburgh's Royal Mile late on Saturday night. Meet at the entrance to the Castle at 1am, and 'bring cheese if possible'.

PEEP SHOW star Matt King is to perform a DJ set as his ‘crackhead’ character Super Hans at London's Moth Club on September 14.
