Major comedy festival cancelled

Organiser: 'We're devastated'

A major comedy festival featuring the likes of Jason Manford, Chris Ramsey and Stewart Francis has been pulled with less than two week’s notice.

The Monkeyshine event was due to be held in a marquee in Stewart Park, Middlesbrough, over the weekend of July 16 to 17

Organisers blamed only ‘unforeseen circumstances’ when announcing the cancellation of what would have been the town’s biggest ever comedy festival yesterday.

Promoter Peter Vincent said he was ‘devastated’, adding: ‘We haven’t taken the decision lightly.’

Other acts lined up to appear included Gary Delaney, Justin Moorhouse, Tom Stade, Paul Sinha and Seann Walsh.
