Louis CK announces Edinburgh date

His first since 2008

Louis CK is to play a gig in Edinburgh during the Fringe.

The American comic has announced a date at the Edinburgh Playhouse on August 11 – his first performance in the Scottish capital since 2008.Tickets are available here

He has also announced changes to his London dates this summer, cancelling the show at the SSE Arena Wembley on August 13.

Instead he will play the smaller Eventim Apollo in Hammersmith – maximum capacity 5,000 as opposed to 12,500 – but twice: on the 13th and the 14th.

Promoters say the decision was so he could play a ‘more intimate theatre environment’.

They said: ‘Anyone with tickets for The SSE Arena, Wembley on August 13 will be contacted by their ticket agent regarding the transfer of their tickets over to one of the Apollo shows.’

In an email to fans last month, CK said: ‘I think I’m better at comedy right now than I’ve been for a while and I’m going to dedicate the year to just doing great live shows. I’m very ready and excited to come to your town.’

As well as his stand-up career, CK has been stretching his acting muscles, recently appearing in Trumbo alongside Bryan Cranston. He will next be heard as the voice of Max in the animated film The Secret Life of Pets, set for release later this year.

He recently told Howard Stern that he was ‘millions of dollars in debt’ after funding the offbeat sitcom Horace and Pete, which he released as a series of paid-for downloads.

Louis CK last performed in London in 2013, when he played the Hammersmith Apollo and O2 Arena. Review.
