Larry David says yes to series 9

Curb Your Enthusiasm is to return for a ninth series.

Larry David has agreed to another instalment of his HBO comedy, more than five years after the last.

The Seinfeld co-creator has long sat on the fence about returning to the format, but today said: ‘In the immortal words of Julius Caesar, "I left, I did nothing, I returned."’

HBO president of programming Casey Bloys added: ‘We’re thrilled that Larry has decided to do a new season of Curb and can’t wait to see what he has planned.

David has so far made 80 episodes of Curb, between 2000 and 2011. But he has previously ruled out going out with a bang, saying: ‘I got so much grief from the Seinfeld finale, which a lot of people intensely disliked, that I no longer feel a need to wrap things up…. It taught me a lesson that if I ever did another show, I wasn’t going to wrap it up.’

Since the last series aired David has been relatively quiet, although he has won acclaim for his impersonation of Presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders on Saturday Night Live.

No date has yet been set for the return of Curb Your Enthusiasm, nor any indication of plotline nor the number of episodes.
