Comedians give 'Dave Talks'

Nick Helm, James Acaster, John Kearns and Katy Wix are among the comics who have made new online shorts for the Dave TV channel.

The eight Dave Talks spoof the TED Talks, with the comedians giving grandiose lectures on trivial subjects.

UKTV commissioner, Tanya Qureshi said: ‘We are always looking for new ways to produce innovative, original content at UKTV and to work with new talent. Dave Talks has helped us to achieve both of these things and is a testament to how invested we are in developing and nurturing relationships with creative comedy minds.’

Helm talks about 'things to fill the time', backed by fellow comic David Trent on guitar.

Acaster's lecture is called People Are Not A Fruit, inspired by the confusion over there a tomato is a fruit or a vegetabe:

Wix, as Summer Girlfriend, spends almost six minutes explaining 'how to turn around, all the way around, in a circle':

Former Edinburgh Comedy Award winner John Kearns asks 'what would you do if you won £30million on the National Lottery?'

Elis James plays a pioneering businessman called Tony Deveraux, the first person in Tredegar to own an email address:

Phil Wang, in the guise of Will Phang, professor of touchscreen linguistics at Didcot Parkway University, talks about unlocking the power of emojis:

Emma Sidi performs a sketch as Spanish lecturer Dr Beatriz Carranza, talking about interpretive dance:

Adam Riches plats Rex Monolith, a shark whisperer, taking about the animals he calls 'nature's bastards', 'water pillocks' or 'Satan's salty psychcos'.

Meanwhile, the third episode of Acaster's own online series, Sweet Home Lahnsteineringa, also featuring Sidi and Jack Barry, was released yesterday.
