James Corden hits 1billion YouTube views

Thanks largely to Carpool Karaoke

James Corden has racked up more than a billion views on YouTube for his US talk show.

The comic's Late Late Show channel, which has 4.8million subscribers hit the milestone last night.

His Carpool Karaoke section is the most popular, with 99million views for the Adele instalment, 74 million and 41 million for Justin Bieber episodes, and 62 million for One Direction.

Corden's online audience compares to around 1.2 million viewers a night who tune into his CBS show at 12.35am.

Jimmy Fallon, whose Tonight Show show airs on NBC an hour earlier, has just surpassed the 5billion views milestone on YouTube; while Stephen Colbert's Late Show is a relative minnow online, with 375 million accumulated views.

Corden yesterday released this spoof of Beyonce's Lemonade.
