Sean Bean joins E4's Wasted

(And yes, he does get to wear medieval garb)

Sean Bean is to appear in E4's new comedy series Wasted, set in the West Country.

The Game of Thrones star plays the imaginary spirit guide of one of the lead characters, Morpheus, a fantasy fanatic who runs a bong shop called Stoned Henge.

And as is so often the case, he'll don full medieval garb for the role.

E4 today announced the full cast, as shooting on the six-part series gets under way, with Danny Kirrane, who played Dave in Sky's Trollied as Morpheus.

Rose Reynolds, who played Tracey Benson in The World's End, will play his Sister Kate;  Gwyneth Keyworth (Lady Augusta Gresham in Doctor Thorne) a quirky tattoo parlour boss whom he has a crush on; and Dylan Edwards (Tom Burns in The Job Lot)  their cocky friend who sleeps on the sofa, rent free.

The show has been created by James Lamont and Jon Foster, whose credits include writing on Cuckoo, the Paddington movie and creating the Comedy Central sitcom I Live With Models,

E4 describes Wasted as 'fun, facetious and jam-packed with surreal visual sequences,' and says it's about 'the stupid things you get up to when there's nothing much to do'.

Channel 4 commissioning editor Liz Lewin said: 'We can’t wait to bring a bit of Westeros to Wiltshire with the Wasted gang’s adventures. Their exploits across the series are hilarious and ludicrous in equal measure – the perfect mix for an E4 audience.'

Wasted is due to air on E4 this summer.
