Liam Williams unveils new play
Liam Williams is to unveil his debut play at the Latitude Festival.
The comic's work, Travesty, will revolve around 'a couple of young, slightly lost, middle-class people who meet, start having sex and then don’t so much fall in love as cautiously negotiate their way into it'.
And festival organisers say the piece has 'a simple and striking conceit at its centre'.
The play follows the two-time Edinburgh-nominated comedian's Radio 4 debut last year with the storytelling series Ladhood, about his teenage misadventures in the Yorkshire suburbs.
Also appearing at the Theatre Arena are George Egg, with his show Anarchist Cook – revealing how to cook a meal using only the items found in an ordinary hotel room.
And there's a new feminist piece from Jenny Eclair's daughter Phoebe Éclair-Powell, called Fox.
This year's Latitude Festival takes place in Henham Park, Suffolk, from July 14 to 17.
The line-up for the poetry tent has also been announced, including comic performers Rob Auton, John Hegley, Atilla The Stockbroker, John Osborne and Henry Norman – recently returning to performing alongside his day job of running the comedy TV production house Baby Cow he set up with Steve Coogan.
Music headliners are The Maccabees on Friday night, The National on Saturday and New Order on Sunday.
Many more names are still to be announced, including the line-up for the comedy arena, but tickets are on sale now.
