Steve Coogan to marry Paul Rudd

In a new comedy-drama

Steve Coogan and Paul Rudd are to play a bickering married couple in a new comedy-drama film called An Ideal Home.

Coogan will play an over-the-top celebrity, while Rudd wants a quieter life. But their lives are upturned with the arrival of the grandson of Coogan's character, a child he never knew even existed.

The script has been written by Andrew Fleming, whose credits include episodes of New Girl, The Michael J Fox Show and Arrested Development.

An Ideal Home was announced at the Berlin International Film Festival, where it is now seeking distributors.

Rudd and Coogan previously co-starred in 2011's Our Idiot Brother, and this is the fourth role announced for Coogan already this year.

He is also voicing the Devil in an animated film that also stars Jeffery Tambor as God; playing Stan Laurel alongside John C Reilly’s Oliver Hardy in a new BBC Film about the comedy duo; and appearing alongside Richard Gere in an adaptation of European bestseller The Dinner.
