Sky appoints new comedy chief

Jon Mountague takes over permanently

Jon Mountague has been appointed as Sky’s new head of comedy, with immediate effect.

He has been carrying out the role in an acting capacity since September, when Lucy Lumsden announced she was leaving the role. Previously he was commissioning editor. where his credits include Stella, Mount Pleasant and Trollied.

He will oversee a commissioning slate which includes the forthcoming Alan Partridge Mid Morning Matters series, Rovers with Sue Johnston and Craig Cash, Hunderby and Yonderland.

Gary Davey, managing director of content for Sky said: 'Jon has done an outstanding job of nurturing many of our most important returning shows and I know he will take good care of Sky’s highly valued comedy heritage. I look forward to watching him take Sky comedy to the next level.'
