A new Phantom hits the London stage

Spike Milligan & Ronnie Barker's script adapted

Spike Milligan and Ronnie Barker’s script about The Phantom Raspberry Blower of Old London Town is to receive its stage premiere.

The show, about a Jack the Ripper-style madman stalking the streets of Victorian London, will be staged over three nights in London’s St James Theatre Studio this autumn.

It was the final Goons Show script written by Milligan, but was never recorded, given that Peter Sellers’ Hollywood career had taken off. Instead, it was adapted by Milligan and Ronnie Barker as an eight-part serial story, which appeared on The Two Ronnies 1976 TV series.

The new production is directed by Danny Greenstone, and will be presented as if a live radio show recording.

Actors David Boyle, Lee Moone and Steve Elias will take the roles originally created for Sellers, Milligan and Harry Secombe, along with James Petherick as the announcer, Jodie Jacobs as The Girl, and a different mystery celebrity guest each night as the Phantom.

The production, from The Ministry of Entertainment, will be staged on Friday October 30 to Sunday November 1.
