Dave buys Fox's The Last Man On Earth

With Will Forte and Kristen Schaal

The Dave channel has snapped up the rights to US post-apocalyptic comedy The Last Man on Earth.

The show is set in 2020, and stars Saturday Night Live's Will Forte and Kristen Schaal as two of the last humans left on Earth after a deadly virus wiped out the population.

Other stars include Mel Rodriguez of Better Call Saul, January Jones of Mad Men and Horrible Boss's Jason Sudeikis as an astronaut left surviving aboard the International Space Station.

Steve North, general manager for Dave says: 'It's fantastic to have such a great show coming to Dave, there has been so much hype surrounding it in the US.  The witty humour and inventive storylines makes The Last Man on Earth a perfect fit for the channel, as we continue to grow our slate of US scripted comedy.'

The Last Man On Earth will be broadcast in August and follows the announcement that Dave also acquired the rights to Parks and Recreation, which was previously shown on BBC Four.

Thirteen episodes of The Last Man On Earth aired on Fox in the States between March and May this year, peaking at 5.75million viewers and attracting generally favourable reviews. It has been renewed for a second series.
