Hulu grabs the show Fox cancelled

The Mindy Project has been rescued by Hulu.

The streaming service has ordered a fourth series of Mindy Kaling’s comedy series, after it was dropped by the Fox network earlier this month.

Another 26 episodes will now be made for the online broadcaster, which already offers the previous series.

Kaling said: ‘I am thrilled The Mindy Project has found a new home on Hulu, where so many of our fans are already watching the show. It’s such an exciting place to be.’

The quirky romantic comedy has been critically acclaimed – winning a Critics’ Choice Television Award – but struggled to attract good ratings for Fox.

The last series, which ended in March, averaged 2.31million viewers, down ten per cent on the second run, with just over a million of them in the key 18-49 demographic. But it has always done well from streaming views.
