C4 orders fourth series

Channel 4 has ordered a fourth series of Friday Night Dinner.

The full cast of Tamsin Greig, Paul Ritter, Mark Heap, Simon Bird and Tom Rosenthal, have signed on to return.

Creator and producer Robert Popper wrote in a statement: ’I am verry hapy I am writin a new serries of Friday Niht Dinners for Chanel 4. I hop it wil be funy and that the peeples wil laurgh.’

And Channel 4’s deputy head of comedy, Nerys Evans, added: ‘It’s always a joy to welcome back the wonderfully doolally world of Friday Night Dinner, and series 4 looks set to be a real corker.’

The broadcaster also gave some ideas of plots in the new series, saying: ‘Jonny [Rosenthal] gets serious with a ‘female’, Adam [Bird] injures Jonny after buttering the kitchen floor, Mum is forced to pretend that her mother has died, Dad invites a friend over who talks with his eyes closed, “Horrible Grandma” returns for more horribleness, and a terrified Jim [Heap] has to look after five dogs.’

The third series - made by Big Talk Productions and Popper Pictures – ended in July last year.
