As a washed-up one-hit wonder

Country music star Billy Ray Cyrus is to star in his own sitcom

In Still The King, the singer behind Achy Breaky Heart will play a ‘washed-up one-hit wonder’ who reinvents himself as an Elvis impersonator.

CMT – the cable channel formerly known as Country Music Television – will air the series in the States sometime next year.

Cyrus, father of Miley, will also be executive producer and writer on the show, Hollywood trade magazine Variety reports.

The plot is that he is the second best Elvis impersonator in Laughlin, Nevada, but crashes his car in a drink-driving accident in Nashville. He is sentenced to return there and perform community service, where he pretends to be a religious minister and discovers he has a 15-year-old daughter he’s never met

CMT also announced its first late night comedy series, The Josh Wolf Show, a panel-discussion show hosted by a comic who who sometimes guest hosted Chelsea Lately.
