The Sun blasted over Ted Robbins heart attack video

Ted Robbins’s sister has blasted The Sun for publishing a video of the comedian collapsing on stage.

The 59-year-old suffered a cardiac arrest at the Manchester Arena on Saturday, while he was performing as Den Perry in Phoenix Nights Live.

And today the Sun published a screen grab from the footage online, and urged its website readers to join its £8-a-month Sun+ subscription to watch the film in full.

Kate Robbins, a singer and impersonator, tweeted: ‘The Sun's decision to post a video of my brother having cardiac arrest on stage during Comic Relief is beyond belief. What a vile paper.’

The newspaper since removed the footage from its website.

Ted Robbins was born in Liverpool, where The Sun has been a pariah ever since its coverage of the Hillsborough disaster blamed the city’s football fans for the tragedy.

Kate also spoke to BBC Radio 5 Live this morning, saying her brother always had a ‘dodgy’ heart valve, and was due to have an operation in the next three weeks.

However she said he was ‘doing great’ in Wythenshawe Hospital – thanks to ‘the really quick thinking of a doctor and a paramedic in the audience’.

She added: ‘People think he’s a big guy so he must have had a heart attack. It not as simple as that. He’s always had a dodgy valve. He’s actually been quite a fit man most of his life. This has just been an horrendous thing for us all.’
