Four episodes for sketch trio

Radio 4 has commissioned a series from sketch trio So On & So Forth.

Four half-hour episodes have been ordered on the back of a pilot made in June, which in turn followed their appearance on the station’s Sketchorama showcase.

John Sheerman, Nick Gadd and Martin Allanson will be joined by comedy character actress Alison Thea-Skot for the series, which is due to air next summer.

The trip made their Edinburgh Fringe debut in 2011, and later that year they won the Cofilmic award for best sketch. They also have a online presence, with almost 250,000 hits for their most popular YouTube sketch, below, thanks to it appearing on Comedy Central's US show Tosh.0.

Their Radio 4 series will be recorded in front of a live studio audience in April, and go out in an 11.30am slot.

Radio 4 comedy commissioning chief Caroline Raphael said: ‘I knew as soon as I saw their live show this time last year that they would work well on Radio 4; their carefully written sketches, surprising situations and exceptionally fine versatile performances also happened to be extremely funny.’

The show will be produced by Glasgow based indie The Comedy Unit with Gus Beattie the producer, and Rab Christie executive producer.
