C4 confirms there will be no more series

Channel 4’s satire show 10 O’Clock Live is not coming back.

Featuring the combined talents of Charlie Brooker, David Mitchell, Jimmy Carr and Lauren Lavern, the topical show has run for three series. Last year’s run attracted around a million viewers.

But now the broadcaster’s head of events, Ed Havard, has revealed that the the programme will not be returning.

In an interview with trade magazine Broadcast, he insisted that Channel 4 is committed to more satirical programmes and says he is ‘actively looking’ for shows that could pick up where 10 O’Clock Live left off.

The programme got off too a rocky start in 2011, when it was much hyped by Channel 4 – but received only a lukewarm critical reaction by reviewers quick to spot flaws. However most agreed that changes in series two and three, including a tighter running time, were improvements.
