STAND-UP Joe Lycett has landed a role in the new Tommy Cooper biopic... playing Les Dennis’s old double-act partner Dustin Gee. It’s only a small part – but it is his acting debut.

ALAN CARR will be ‘hijacking’ the ads during the screening of the Channel 4 comedy gala on Friday, along with X-Factor’s Rylan Clark. The pair will be inserted into commercials for Specsavers, Skittles, Coors and Lynx, among others.

ROOKIE comedian Seán Nolan has won the RTÉ Two New Comedy Awards – and a €5,000 first prize – in Ireland. Judge Bill Malone, channel controller of RTÉ Two, praised his ‘distinct, brave, original style’.

AMERICAN comic and top podcaster Paul F Tompkins is to return to the UK for six nights at London’s Soho Theatre from July 8.

Dave Cohen won Chortle’s £100 prize for the best Chortle Correspondents article in May for his piece about violent misogyny in comedy.
