A reel coup

Movie show snaps up top comics

Comics including Stewart Lee, Rob Brydon, Rufus Hound and Simon Pegg are taking part in a new movie show for the DMax digital channel.

Stand-up James Mullinger has persuaded several top comedians to be interviewed about film for the new show, Movie Kingdom, which he presents and co-created.

Mullinger claims the show is the world’s first funny film review show, adding: ‘I love movies and I love comedy so we wanted to create a show where we have fun with the Hollywood stars and feature the best comedians from the international circuit talking about movies and appearing in movie based sketches.’

He said that his line-up was ‘better than two series' of Live At The Apollo’ with other acts taking part including Margaret Cho, Patrick Monahan, Scott Capurro, Terry Gilliam and Richard Herring – as well as interviews with Hollywood stars such as George Clooney and Minnie Driver.

The ten-part series, co-created with filmmaker Mark Murphy, starts on DMax – a channel probably best known for airing back-to-back programmes about tattoo art – this Saturday.
