Chris Addison is to host a new live topical show on Radio 5 live every week.

The stand-up and Thick Of It Star will front 7 Day Sunday from Januayr 10 as part of a shake-up of the station’s schedule.

The show will run for an hour from 11am, and feature a panel of guests –with fellow comics Andy Zaltzman and Sarah Millican appearing on the first episode.

Addison said: ‘I think what's been missing from Sunday morning radio is a programme where relatively ill-informed idiots fail to take the news seriously for an hour.

‘7 Day Sunday will redress that balance possibly to a fault. And where better to do that than on 5 Live, Britain's premier rhyming radio station?’

5 Live controller Adrian Van-Klaveren added: ‘It's great to be able to welcome Chris Addison to the 5 Live family. He's one of Britain's sharpest comedians.’

Until this month, Addison wrote a weekly topical column for London's Evening Standard newspaper.
