Bald as brass

Hair loss clinic hijacks O Briain's image

Dara O Brian has been left bemused after a hair loss clinic used him to promote their business.

Despite his obvious male-pattern baldness, London’s Belgravia Centre feature the Mock The Week host on their website in a bid to drum up more customers.

Bizarrely, the clinic that tries to persuade men they need to cure baldness headlined their article: ‘Comedian Dara O Briain Says Hair Loss Helped His Career.’

The stand-up posted a message on his Twitter feed: ‘Why is a hair loss clinic using me as a poster boy? A mixed message surely.’

The article on the clinic’s website lists O Briain’s achievements, before quoting an old interview in which he said that comedians shouldn’t be ‘conventionally good looking’ and that: ‘The worst career move I could make right now would be to get a wig.’

It then awkwardly states: ‘Whether you need to be bald to be a successful comedian is debatable but if you are concerned about hair loss then it can be confusing to tell the difference between the various hair loss products that are available…’ before going into a plug for their treatments.

O Briain – who started going bald the age of 22 – also Tweeted: ‘PS: I don’t endorse them or their work.’
