Dylan Moran up for acting award

Acclaim for movie role

Dylan Moran has landed a top award nomination for his starring in role in the dark comedy movie A Film With Me In It.

The comic has been shortlisted for best actor in a lead role in this year’s Irish Film & Television Awards – the equivalent of the UK’s Baftas.

In the film, released in Ireland last October, Moran plays the best friend of an out-of-work actor who suddenly has to dispose of a large number of dead bodies following a series of freak accidents. Comics David O'Doherty and Keith Allen also have parts.

Dylan is up against heavyweight competition from Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson for In Bruges, and Michael Fassbender for Hunger.

In other categories, Graham Linehan has been nominated for the TV script category for The I.T. Crowd, while The Panel, a topical show featuring comedians such as Neil Delamare, Colin Murphy and Andrew Maxwell, has been shortlisted in the TV entertainment section.

And actress and sometime stand-up Deirdre O'Kane is up for the best lead actress on TV, for her role in the RTE drama Bittersweet.
