Dyson gets his goat

League Of Gents writer updates fairytale

League Of Gentleman co-writer Jeremy Dyson is updating the Three Billy Goats Gruff fairytale for BBC One.

His version, now being filmed in Northern Ireland, is about an ambitious boyband, ‘Billy Goat’, who are managed by an evil troll.

The show will star Paul Nicholl, Catherine Tate co-star Mathew Horne and comedian Nick Mohammed as the band members, and Bernard Hill as the troll Grettongrat.

Dyson said: ‘This was my favourite fairytale and like any good story, it resonates today – people wanting to achieve more, discovering if the grass really is greener on the other side.’

Other fairytales being updated for the series of comedy-dramas are The Emperor's New Clothes, Cinderella and Rapunzel.

Executive producer Mark Redhead said: ‘These timeless tales lend themselves to new, modern and hugely entertaining versions.’
