Python musical up for 7 awards

Monty Python musical Spamalot has led the nominations for West End theatre’s most prestigious awards.

The show has been shortlisted for seven Laurence Olivier awards, including best musical.

And stars Tim Curry, Hannah Waddingham and Tom Goodman-Hill are up for acting honours.

Its other nominations are for best lighting, best set and best costume design.

Winners will be announced in a ceremony at the Grosvenor House Hotel on February 18.

Meanwhile, the show, written by Eric Idle and loosely based on the film Monty Python and the Holy Grail, previously won three Tony awards when it opened on Broadway two years ago.
