Born and bred in Sunderland, Mat Reed started comedy in 2001 as half of the double act Mat & Faron with Faron Smith. And as a solo act, he made the finals of the Daily Telegraph Open mic award in 2002 and of the Leicester Comedian of the Year contest the following year.

Wife and I caught Matt Reed at The Stand in Edinburgh last night. What a performance! Stunning set! Truly gifted! This man was sucking diesel last night – where I come from that translates as shit hot. See him! NOW!

Good, if slightly predictable, MC (Tattershall). Got the crowd going, though between you and me I think he was more interested in pulling the ladies than entertaining the crowd - not that there's anything wrong with that, it can be a symbiotic relationship.
