Expectations aren’t necessarily going to be high for a free gig in Stratford; but this turns out to be an attractive little room. It helps that it’s not in a pub, but in the historic environs of the Theatre Royal, and so attract an appreciative crowd. The room’s well laid-out, too – decorated the blood-red faded theatrical grandeur, it’s a good long shape, the bar to one side, with the audience relaxed around cabaret-style tables.
